Leadership, Jary Carter believes, is about the way people feel when they are around you and what your influence inspires them to accomplish. As Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of OroCommerce, he has spent more than 13 years turning that philosophy into one of the highest-rated B2B eCommerce platforms in the world.

Carter’s entrepreneurial instincts surfaced early; he started his first business in high school. After joining a large technology company straight out of college, he deliberately sought out smaller, early-stage ventures so he could learn to lead within them. That path led him to Magento, where as head of global sales and partnerships he met his future business partners and helped grow the company from under $10 million in annual recurring revenue to more than $60 million. By rapidly scaling sales, marketing and partnership teams, he helped the company dominate across the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Australia.

When Magento was acquired, Carter saw the moment to pursue his own venture. In 2012 he co-founded OroCommerce alongside Magento’s former Chief Technology Officer and Chief Architect, choosing to bootstrap the business at the outset. Over the years the team raised more than $23 million from leading venture firms and built the company into a product recognized as a market leader by prominent software analysts.

His recognition among the 2026 Salt Lake City Titan 100 reflects sustained, disciplined growth. Over the past three years OroCommerce has more than doubled its revenue by delivering exceptional customer service and moving upmarket to serve the Fortune 1000, competing directly with far larger players. Much of its newest customer adoption comes from companies exceeding $5 billion in annual revenue. Carter has led every aspect of the business, from finance and go-to-market to product and customer success, and was recently named a B2B eCommerce leader of the year by an industry association.

He is also a recognized voice on the future of his market. A regular contributor to Forbes who frequently shares perspective on the multi-trillion-dollar B2B eCommerce landscape, Carter argues that the most valuable artificial intelligence lightens the workload by simplifying repetitive tasks such as order processing, and that clean information and adaptable workflows give those systems the structure to make accurate decisions.

Over the next five years he intends to keep growing the company by 30-40% annually while building profitably, expanding leadership across Europe and the United States and pursuing opportunistic growth in Asia Pacific and Latin America. He is equally proud of the culture he has cultivated, noting that average employee tenure exceeds seven years, almost unheard of for a young software firm.

Carter sustains his own drive by relentlessly learning, whether earning an MBA or learning to DJ. Pushing himself beyond his comfort zone, he says, is what keeps him excited to bring new skills into the real world.
