When Kirk Partridge, Chief Executive Officer of VFC Group LLC, first stepped into the lightning protection industry, he found a market hiding in plain sight. Founded in 1989 by brothers Todd and Travis Vought, VFC Group had built a solid regional footprint by the mid-2000s, yet the wider field remained a fragmented cottage industry populated by thousands of local installers. The opportunity to become the first true national contractor was enormous, and it was that opportunity that drew Partridge in.
He arrived in September 2006 representing an investment group backing the company, joining management as Vice President of Operations. By 2007 the enterprise spanned four locations and 70 employees. When the President departed in 2009, Partridge ascended to lead the organization through its next chapter, and he never looked back.
Over nearly two decades, alongside the founding partners and a dedicated workforce, he transformed the business through aggressive organic growth and strategic acquisitions into the largest national lightning protection company in the country. As the operation scaled, he spotted a critical supply chain vulnerability and pushed VFC Group toward in-house manufacturing, a decisive pivot that made the company more self-reliant and durable.
That resilience proved its worth during crisis. While competitors retreated or folded under the weight of global supply disruptions and financial uncertainty, VFC Group survived and kept growing through the Great Recession and the pandemic alike. Partridge steered a tenfold expansion, guiding the company from a small regional player into the nation’s preeminent, vertically integrated lightning protection powerhouse.
His philosophy explains much of that endurance. Aggressive corporate growth and human empathy are not mutually exclusive, he insists, and the most resilient organizations are forged when leadership commits fiercely to both. That belief has shaped a culture where ambition and care reinforce rather than undercut one another.
His selection to the Titan 100 recognizes a leader who transformed an entire industry while navigating unprecedented economic headwinds. Partridge measures a true Titan not by the ability to generate revenue when conditions are favorable, but by the capacity to reshape a field under pressure and emerge stronger.
The road ahead is equally ambitious. He is guiding VFC Group toward transformative growth, driven by the accelerating electrification of modern business. As automation, interconnection and networked systems become central to how companies operate, reliance on that technology deepens every year, and so does the need to protect vulnerable networks from the transient currents lightning produces.
Partridge no longer views VFC Group as merely a construction contractor. He sees a critical safeguard for national infrastructure and technological continuity, and his five-year vision centers on accelerating vertical integration so the company can meet that responsibility. For an industry once overlooked, he has built something formidable, and his conviction that empathy and ambition belong together continues to define the enterprise he leads.
